This project was our competition winning proposal for a 100 year public art installation designed to convey the context of climate change to the public through the use of high tech visualization and time-lapse imagery of local biological indicators, such as oak trees and lichen. The $12 million final project will be completed in 2011 in San Jose, CA.

Hyphae Internship Opportunity

Hyphae Design Laboratory is seeking an intern for 3-6 month duration.  We are now accepting applications.

The Hyphae Design Lab is a small, fun design and project management firm specializing in living systems and architecture. We are designing and building rainwater harvesting and graywater systems in the bay area, as well as consulting on living roofs, living walls and conceptual architecture across the country.

Possible Roles and Responsibilities:

* Materials research and organizing
* Portfolio development
* Website development
*Drafting (using vectorworks)
*Developing reports and presentations
*Light construction

Your time will be split up more or less like this:

*30% work on billable projects (drafting/construction/buying materials/ect.)
*30% internal projects for Hyphae (organizing, template development)
*30% your personal project (if you are looking for college credit)
*10% meetings

Experience:
—————————
An ideal candidate will have the following experience:

* Excellent self motivation and organizational skills
* Basic drafting experience (with CAD or Vectorworks)
* Experience using spreadsheet and word programs (preferably I-works)
* Basic construction/plumbing skills
*Passion for environmental/living systems and design (this is the only essential requirement!)
*Basic graphic design skills (or esthetic sense)

This is a part-time to full-time internship (depending on your needs). Starting and finishing date are negotiable. There may be some payment available, which is regotiable depending on your situation. If you are looking for college credit we can work with you to develop a fun and meaningful research project.
