31st Street Green Infrastructure Demonstration Project

Hyphae Design lab is working with a local non-profit Urban Releaf, in partnership with the City of Oakland, DWR, and U.C. Davis, to conduct a research pilot project on green streets, at the epicenter of crime, drug and urban blight, at the corner of 31st and Market. Urban Releaf envisioned the projct and garnered grant and community support, Hyphae is engineering multiple different flow-through planter systems and coordinating permitting with the City of Oakland, and UC Davis is developing a testing protocol for understanding the  stormwater infiltration rates and treatment quality of the different systems. We want to work with the City to continue to create these creative, state, local, non-profit and academic partnerships, to both understand the best green infrastructure strategies for the city of Oakland and help fund them.
